Comfort quilts and something to smile about...

This year I decided I would make some comfort quilts,

I thought I'd try for 6 to 8 comfort quilts for donation...

...very doable I thought, and then in March I heard,

Henry Glass Fabrics was sponsoring a contest that benefited
Quilts for Kids.

You could win $500.00 for first place and $250.00 for second place.

You had to use the Happy Town fabric 
designed by Jacquelynne Steves.

My friend ordered the fabric for her shop and I got to work!!

I made 2 quilts...mailed them off...
never expected to win...and I didn't.

I was just happy to make a few quilts for such a great cause.

While reading Jacquelynne's blog

 I saw my quilt hanging at the entrance 

of the Quilts for Kids head quarters in Fairless Hills PA.

WOW, was I surprised...

bright and cheery but nothing fancy...

...I was even more surprised when I received the nicest email

They were competing in Michigan

at the Hall of Fame Dance Challenge this past weekend...

and it was a fabulous weekend...

Nana couldn't be prouder of her grandgirls, 

Leah and Rylee...you are amazing dancers.

Leah received highest marks for her jazz solo and 

an invitation to the Hall of Fame Nationals Competition...

...she is one happy girl.

I knew I wanted to get some of this fabric and make a quilt

to donate to the Quilts for Kids charity.

There is even a quilt contest using this fabric.

It's sponsored by Henry Glass Fabrics.

I sure would love to win the contest, but that's highly unlikely to happen.

I'm just happy to win the fabric from Barb....thank you Barb and Jacquelynne.

Earlier in the week I talked to my friend Corina about ordering the fabric.

She owns Crazyquiltgirl Fabric Shop.

She gave me the go ahead to order some fabric...she mentioned 6 bolts.

The fabrics should be arriving in her shop on Tuesday.

The panel and one stripe print was not available.

I'm sure it will go fast...watch for it in her shop.

She has excellent prices and in most cases same day shipping.

If you would like some of the other fabrics just let me know.

If it is available I will order it and have it in a couple of days.

It do feel just a wee bit guilty spending someone else's money though!

Criteria for all quilts 

- must use at least 80% of Happy Town fabric

- must be machine pieced and quilted

- must be approximately 40" x 50"

- must use lo-loft cotton or poly-cotton batting

- must have a submission form filled out and attached to the quilt with a safety pin
