ALYoF June finish...

...another quilt finished.
I used Moda's El Gallo designed by Deb Strain.
I wanted the black binding on the front but not on the back.
I decided on the 2-fabric binding and it's perfect.
My 2-fabric binding tutorial is HERE.
...just love the blacks, greys and reds...
and those dots!!

To make this 48" x 56" quilt you need
42 - 10" squares and 42 - 5" squares.

I saw this Fold and Sew techique on a You Tube video...
by Peg Spradlin
Under my header you can also find the video in the tab
Tutorials by Other Designers
Peg used sashing to separate the blocks and
she centered all the 5" squares.
I chose to make my quilt without the sashing and off set the 5" squares.
I love them both...
I have made this quilt 3 times...and I know I will make many more
...it is fast and simple...perfect for a lap quilt!!
There are so many Christmas collections I love
and I can see me making some as Christmas gifts...or
how about a Halloween quilt?

  1. Another fantastic finish. I agree about the grey and red looking wonderful together. The blocks are very effective. And of course I love the red on the back, too.
    Lovely sunshine in this photo.

  6. Beautiful, I too watched the tutorial and used it as the basis for my first ever quilt, mines not quite as fabulous add yours but I'm proud of my first effort. I also did a two colour binding, I just sort of winged it! Great minds think alike
