...a HUGE THANK YOU....

.....to the most generous and talented MADAME SAMM !!
...it definitely was a unexpected SURPRISE!!

.......it started Friday afternoon....
I was out helping a friend and
when I got home the telephone message light was flashing......
Ontario call.....I thought to myself....
I don't recognize the number...
I listen to the message and this sweet voice said "this is.....but I didn't catch the name...
listened again....still didn't catch the name...but I did get
"drop me a line when I can call you back....talk to you soon".
The voice was so soft, calming ....angel like.
I thought 'who is this'
I hit the dial button and there was this sweet voice again.
I identified myself and then asked....who is this?
"This is Madame Samm....."
....well I just about peed my pants, my heart started racing.....
my feet started dancing.
She called me.....yes ME right out of the clear blue...ME....still can't believe it....
said she wanted to give MY blog a makeover...

....from this point I'm not sure what I said to her...
I just couldn't think...I know she asked me a few questions
but I'm not sure what they all were or if I even answered them...
I was sEw EXCITED.....I do remember saying I like the color red...
but she said she is 'visioning' the color blue....and I do like blue
I'm good with blue...
after what seemed like only a few minutes
we said our good byes....as I set the phone down....length of call 53 minutes
OMG I talked for 53 minutes to her and I know she is one busy lady.
I thought to myself how did she get my phone #....
I quickly dialed my BFF Mama Spark....and still squealing with excitement
said.....I just got off the phone with Madame Samm
and she wants to give OUR blogs a makeover... YOURS and MINE.
she was laughing and excited too....then she says
"yes I know MSamm emailed me and asked if  I would give her your phone #".
Mama Spark then says to me
"you have no idea how hard it was to keep this secret from you"
....I had already talked to her earlier in the morning and not a peep,
her lips were definitely sealed....

....it's now Saturday morning
the phone rings....it's Madame Samm....
and the same excitement hits me....my hands are going, my feet are dancing
my mind is racing and I'm feeling hyper...calm down I say to myself.
At this point I think she said she was going to use red....
and I said...something like...red is good.
After a few more emails and phone calls
I get an email from Madame Samm saying 'take a peak'
I loved it immediately....the pinkish red with polka dots is absolutely perfect.
How did she know I luv polka dots.....
how did she know I was now thinking that red may be too harsh
a dark pink....almost red....might be better
then she tells me
she made that shade of pinkish red.....just for me....she says nobody else will have it.
Then came another email with my very own button

and then a signature tag.

designed by the amazing talented Madame Samm...lol
Needless to say I'm still floating about 6" off the floor.

Madame Samm.....
....you have unselfishly touched me with your kindness and generosity
 given me encouragement .....
when I lacked confidence in myself...
.....from the bottom of my heart......THANK YOU :)

Hugs from Michigan

You will love Mama Spark's blog....it's awesome too.

  13. Your instructions say to leave one comment on your blog titled ".....I'm a guest blogger on Stash Manicure". Well, I can't find it, so I'm leaving my comment here.
I would love the Lily & Will II charm packs if I won.
I own 2 1/2 sewing machines and two sergers. One serger was given to me. I have my all purpose sewing machine, a featherweight and I bought a sewing machine to share with my sister to keep at her condo in Florida.

  14. #3 - Moda Wildflowers IV would be most appreciated!

My husband and I were married on Feb. 14th, 1984 so it would have been 27 "long miserable years" for us this year (that's a family joke!). He passed away almost 2 years ago and I'm sure glad he let me choose Valentine's Day for our wedding day. So many happy memories.

  15. I'm a new follower but I first want to say that I think your blog makeover a la Mdm Samm looks great. I also loved your binding tutorial. I have to say, my technique is almost identical to yours but I still learned a few very valuable tips that will make my bindings even better (I think). I have always used the 1/4" seam allowance for attaching binding but I'm going to try the 3/8" you suggested. I also finish off my binding as you do, but struggle with the bulk of the quilt--so your suggestion to "PLEAT" the quilt was inspired and I can't wait to use that next time.

If I win, I'd love a couple of charm packs and I've been drooling over Central Park and Lovely--just hints, but honestly, I'd be happy with most anything since I've been out of work for so long.

Thanks for a great tutorial. It's one of the best I've read.
    Gail :)

  18. What a nice surprise, congratulations on your new makeover! Madame Samm is truly talented, it's amazing how many makeovers she has done... yet they're all unique and reflect the personality of the blog owner!

I enjoyed your binding tutorial (my least favorite part of quilt making... next to basting), I'll have to start using a walking foot!
