Welcome and thank you for stopping by...I hope you are enjoying the Red, White and Blue Blog Hop. Thank you Mdm Samm and Jane for organizing such a great blog hop....you ladies are amazing!! Ready or not....here is my parade of blocks...
...my first block was designed by Konda Luckau for a quilt-along she hosted last fall. It measures 12.5" . The pattern is available on her blog Moose on the Porch. It was block #1 of the quilt-along with 12 different star blocks by 12 different designers. The fabric is Moda's Prairie Paisley II by Minick and Simpson.
...the next block combines a little piecing and a little embroidery. As many of you know I love to embroider...it's so relaxing. The embroidery in this 12.5" block is a free design at Bird Brain Designs. The embroidered square is 5.5". I'm not sure what to call it...kinda like a log cabin block and it's super easy. The first border is finished at 1/2", followed by a 1" border and the outside border is finished at 2". I will likely finish this as a mini quilt for my table topper or my wall hanger.
...the Granny Square has been showing up in a lot of blogs since the beginning of the year when Jolene shared her tutorial on her blog Blue Elephant. As of Monday July 9th I had not made one but when I saw Lori Holt's 12.5" Great Granny Square...I had to make one and once I started I couldn't stop. You can find it on her blog...Bee In My Bonnet. I'm planning on making enough blocks to make it lap size....or until I run out of the background fabric. I think I have enough fabric for 9 blocks and the sashing. I'm using Prairie Paisley II.
Here is my first Great Granny Square....
Here is my first Great Granny Square....
...and my second
...and my fifth
...and I just finished my sixth and seventh block, sorry no pictures...)o:
Lastly I'd like to share two string quilts I recently finished...super easy and stress free. These quilts were made using a 10.5" block.
Thank you again for stopping by ♥ ♥ ♥

ReplyDeleteOh Pauline, you know I've been a faithful follower for a LONG time! You have out-done yourself with your RWB creations! I'm quite impressed...and that string quilt looks so lovely. It would make a great cuddle quilt for watching TV/Movies. Believe it or not, I was visiting Lori Holt's blog yesterday and was impressed enough to join up with her Granny Square A-Long. I wasn't as prolific as you by making 7 blocks!!?? I only got my fabrics chosen and directions drawn out. I couldn't get my computer to print correctly so I drew the pattern out myself. Your RWB Granny squares are fantastic! I can't believe what a wonderful Give-Away you have!!?? I like both choices but my eyes bugged out when I saw that Halloween table runner....I love Halloween and have given away everything I've made. But I would KEEP that Table Runner IF I were to win!! Oh PLEASE let Lady Luck be on my side this time and have my name picked!!! I sound like a kid at Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYou're a wonderful quilter Pauline.
Blessings
Gmama Jane
Dear Pauline,
ReplyDeleteI really liked your blocks and really thinking that the Paisley Prairie II was very stunning with their variety. I was impressed with the string quilt too! I'm not sure if I brave enought to try that yet. I became follower #645 I believe and the decision on which would I like to win is very hard to figure out being a newbie quilter so on the slim chance that I did win I would actually let you pick for me as I would enjoy both the pattern and the charm pack in my quest of making mini quilts.
Sincerely,
Tricia

All of your other blocks are neat to. I am a follower.
