February's ALYOF is finished...

February is almost over...where has the month gone?
I'm happy to be linking up
to February's linky party for ALYOF
and I still have 2 days to finish another project.
I'm working on a few...hopefully I can finish another one with a ruffle.

Yippee...another UFO is finished.
The pattern is free on the Moda Bakeshop.
I quilted it with a Bubbles pantograph.
and backed it with more dots...I'm luving dots this year.
I will be making this quilt again...
as I really want to make it with a chenille backing.

Thank you Melissa and Shanna,
I'm on track to finish 12 UFO's.
Check out the linky party here see all the February finishes.

Think spring...keep thinking it...think spring!!

What did we do to upset Mother Nature...

This is a picture from our back deck taken February 1

Today's picture show the same pine tree,
the road is snow covered and
the houses across the road are lost in the snow.
I am so done with winter!!
I decided to spend the day in the basement...sewing ruffles.
I have joined Think Ruffles Blog Hop with
Mdm Samm at Sew We Quilt and
Amy at Sew Incredibly Crazy.
It starts Wednesday March 5th and my day is March 6th.
I hope you will come by for a visit and see what I have ruffled.
I think it is time I ruffled up a giveaway too...
yes a giveaway on March 6th!!

Think spring everyone...
and have a fantastic Friday and weekend!!

ALYOF's goal setting party for February....

...for February's ALYOF's goal setting party, I am going to machine applique the letters on this baby quilt, quilt it and bind it.  The words have been ready to applique for a few years. I am not sure if I will quilt it on the long arm or do a chenille backing.  I shared the chenille backing technique with Mama Spark a few years ago and she did a tutorial for the Moda Bake Shop.  The eat.play.sleep.repeat pattern was on the Moda Bake Shop too.

I have made this quilt a few years ago and loved how it turned out.

.
Other projects I hope to work on this month are:
  • Something that has ruffles...I joined Sew We Quilt's blog hop...Think Ruffles.  I have a few ideas but I am still in the planning stage.
  • I'm making a red and blue string quilt that will be going to the Veteran's Hospital in Ann Arbor MI.  Last week I came across a box with  some red and blue precut stripes...1" to 3" wide.  I have 36 blocks made and trimmed, now I have to decide how big to make the quilt. I think I will make 6 more blocks.  The blocks will finish 8".  They don't like the quilts to be too big.
  • I'm hoping to work on my Michelle Ridgway project...there is a peek on this post
I am linking up with Shanna and Melissa for their ALYOF February goal setting party.

I took this picture through our library window...
believe me I have seen enough of this white stuff
just wish it would go away!!

January 2014 Finishes...

#1...my January finish for ALYOF was to complete a flimsy using
Bird Brain Design's pattern #301.
...yippee I finished the quilting and binding yippee again!!

#2...crocheted 5 scrubbies, I'm getting faster at making these.
OK all you scrubbie lovers....here is the link to the pattern I used.
Pat's Crocheted Scrubbie by Pat Linn, Saskatchewan Canada
The link is also in the Knitting and Crocheting tab under my blog header

#3...I made 4 more Tammy bags...and all will have new homes soon.
3 are going to Canada and one to California.

#4 finished knitting another scarf for Mama Spark.
She is a Michigan Spartan fan.

#5...I finished the 4 seasons quilt early in January...it travelled to the
Road to California Quilt Show.
It is now back home and
I was thrilled to learn it was one of the top 4 red work quilts
to win viewer's choice awards.
Thank you Robin and Tina for all your hard work to
make the Redwork exhibit such a success.
Looking forward to the 2015 Redwork exhibit!!

I do believe I had a very productive January in the quilting department!
Not so much in getting the house ready to sell.
