A little bit of THIS and a little bit of THAT....

....have you ever read a Chinese fortune cookie and said OMG that just happened...
a few months back my husband read his fortune cookie.

"There is someone owing so many thanks to you."

The day before DH and 2 other co-workers saved the life of another co-worker
who had collapsed at work, there was no pulse, one ran for the defibulator
while the other two did CPR and before the ambulance arrived they had a pulse.
He was rushed to hospital and had surgery within hours.
He wrote the nicest letter to all who 'saved his life'....I got the goose bumps when I read it...

...then last week I read my Chinese fortune cookie.

You will take a chance on something in the near future.

I have so many things going on right now....I'm getting giddy
as they are all to do with 'quilting'.

The first thing is.........
I just finished testing a pattern for a designer
and until the pattern is published I can't show any pictures or even blog about it.  )o:
It was my first pattern testing for me.

the second thing is........
I volunteered to stitch embroidery blocks for Helen Stubbings from Australia...
...the blocks are only 6 1/2" and a lot of detailed embroidery
and it was a bigger project than I first thought and
Grace and Mama Spark offered to help....the 21 blocks are finished.
There were a total of 38 but only 21 blocks were needed for the layout of the sample quilt.
The blocks are headed to Missouri to be made into a quilt top
....then the top will be sent to Australia to be quilted and bound.
Helen will be raffling the quilts to raise money for the Flood Relief Fund.
You can read about it HERE.

All the blocks have something to do with Australia......
here are a few.....

Flood Relief Fund 6-1

and 6 more blocks....

Flood Relief Fund 6-2

I should take pictures of all 21 stitched blocks.......It took me about an hour to upload 4 pictures into Flikr....it is frustrating...anyone else having problems with uploading into Flikr?

With the pattern testing done and the Australian blocks ready to send to Missouri on Monday, I  am ready to start on another group project that should be starting next week.... I'm so excited about it ....

...and to add more excitement....Mama Spark and I are hitting the road to take in the AQS Quilt Show in Lancaster PA.  It is about a 7 - 8 hour drive.  We leave March 13 and come back late on the 18th.   Our DH's were to come to but mine couldn't get away due to work commitments soooo it's 2 for sure and maybe 3 girls only...

...and if that isn't enough.........Mama Spark and I could be flying to Spring Quilt Market in Utah.....an opportunity has come about and we sure hope we can make it work......

...and there is more but that will have to wait until tomorrow or Monday. If the snow stops flying and the roads aren't too bad DH and I are  going to the Canton Home Show tomorrow.   I have some sewing to do tomorrow and pressing of 2 twin quilt backings....UGH!! so they are ready for LTW to quilt...till tomorrow...

.....nightie night

  3. Wow - I think you need to stop to take a breath!!
I think your fortune cookie is quite appropriate in your case with all the new things you are doing.
Love the Aussie blocks. The 3 of you have done a wonderful job. It has been very generous of you to give your time to this cause.
The pattern testing would have been very interesting, especially if you liked the project! Is it something you are planning to continue doing?
I can only dream of going to the show in Lancaster. Maybe one year I can coordinate a trip to family at the same time.
Have you been doing more work with your longarm? How is your progress with that?

  5. Wow! you are on a roll, girl. Saving lives, getting many thanks, taking chances, going to quilt market, making those wonderful blocks, etc... What great fortune cookies. I always get dud fortune cookies, so with duds, you always say "...in bed" after the fortune, and that at least makes them funny. Oh read them out loud at the table.

Can't remember it at the moment due to "Sometimer's Disease". Sooooo excited for Lancaster. Next time we go we need to invite some additional friends, maybe we will remember sooner, damn SD!!

  8. Heavens...and I thought I was busy. But all of it sounds like so much fun. I love the embroidery blocks and I know you'll be thrilled to see them put into a quilt top. And pattern testing, goodness I'd be nervous. :) Have a great day and fun on your upcoming trips. blessings, marlene

  9. Have fun on your trip! The Grandkids are disappointed they won't get to Nana's for March Break this year so we'll have to spoil them some other way :S
