June's goal for ALYoF is finished...

...and it is one of my favorites.
I will have this quilt for sale at the GAAQG quilt show July 26-27.
Proceeds will go to SafeHouse Center in Ann Arbor Michigan.
The quilt measures 58.5" x 81".
It is made with 40 different 30's fabrics and Kona's white PFD.
I used the 30's fabrics to make the scrappy binding.
I quilted an all-over pattern called Plumage from Willow Leaf Studio.

The quilt was designed by my friend Christa as a four week mystery quilt
for our Wednesday night quilting group.
I changed the pattern slightly...I added another row and
used the white for sashing and 30's prints for the corner stones.
You can see Christa's version HERE and see how different they look.
I love them both!!

Christa made three quilts from the 40 different 30's FQ's before
she gave me her leftover scraps...thank you so much Christa!!
You can see the other 2 quilts she made... click HERE
She will have the pattern available for sale shortly...
become a follower
and you won't miss the chance to win a copy of her pattern.
Hop on over and check out Christa's blog.

There were enough scraps for me to make 40 star blocks
plus the scrappy binding for my first quilt.
I have 16 star blocks left to make a second quilt.
It really is an easy and fast block to make.

Now I have a few days to think of my ALYoF goal for July.

I am linking up to Fiber of All Sorts for the June finishing party.

Have a wonderful week everyone!!

A lovely visit with family and friends...

NASCAR weekend in Brooklyn Michigan
has come and gone for another year.
This is our 10th year to host family and friends for the weekend.
This year there were 7 visiting from Friday to Sunday.

Saturday and Sunday all the guys go to the track...
and the ladies go shopping and do some sewing.
The weekend weather was perfect and the time went by sooo fast...
before we knew it was time for everyone to leave...
...all were heading back to Canada except for my niece.
She stayed for the week
...she booked some vacations days to spend with her 'old' aunt and uncle...
We love having her!!
There might be one more year to host the NASCAR weekend,
but then it will come to an end...
we will be moved back to Canada by April 2016 the latest.

My niece is going to be a new mama in November
and I am soooooooo excited for her and her hubby!!
About 6 years ago, maybe longer, she started quilting and she is luving it.
She has made many baby quilts for all her friends,
and now it is time to make quilts for her new baby.
She finished up a few projects this week and I did
some sewing too.
She finished machine stitching a Dr Suess chenille quilt,
just the binding left to hand stitch down.
She also made 2 Tammy bags...she was planning on making only one
but she had enough fabric to make 2...
I am soooo proud of her...she did an awesome job!!
I quilted the orange quilt in the background another niece.
She is an awesome quilter too!!
I've spread the love of quilting to my sister and my 2 nieces...
my DIL is also luving quilting...it makes my heart sing!!

A few finishes to share...

I have been working away on my UFO's and 'comfort' quilts.
The tumbling block quilt I finished the end of May.
I started it in January and hoped
to finish it in March...I'm happy to say it is now finished and will
be donated to Safe House at the GAAQG meeting in July.
I posted about it HERE.
WOW...the lilac bushes were so beautiful this year
...our harsh winter did them no harm.

I'm sad...my beautiful pansies were eaten by the bunnies...
every pansy...I'm very sad!!!
My next finish wasn't a UFO... I started it in early April
and it went together so quickly...I finished it June 2nd...
I love it....it really is a 'happy' quilt.

Quilt #3
This is my 30's quilt, my June goal for ALYoF.
I have progressed from this...
...to this...
...I am happy to say it is another finish!!
Mr QnQ has to take pictures yet.
That will be for another posting before the end of June.

We are in Canada...and tomorrow
Mr. QnQ is off to watch our grandson play in a lacrosse tournament.
I am off to watch the grandgirls dance in their year end recital.
I love to watch them dance....
it will be a busy day for sure.

Hands 2 Help Charity Challenge

The final linky party for the Hands 2 Help Charity Challenge is
at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.
Sarah has been hard at work organizing the challenge
and keeping us informed...she even had guest bloggers.

This is the second year I participated.
Last year I donated 2 lap size quilts to Happy Chemo.

This year I stuffed 3 child size lap quilts into one box
that went to Quilts of Compassion...
...they have been received.
The one on the quilt rack is on it's way to Happy Chemo
and it should arrive in Utah tomorrow.
This quilt was pieced by my DIL and quilted by my son.
They both did an awesome job.
Thank you Sarah, for all the hours you put into making this
quilt challenge such a success.
I look forward to participating again next year.

June's goal...

WOW June already....and day 5...how can that be???
I am ready to set my goal for ALYoF
hosted by Fiber of all Sorts and Sew BitterSweet Designs.

My quilt pieces in a box, that was a few months ago...

today, the blocks are sewn together and sashed...
and it looks like this...
I still have to add the 5 inch outer borders, quilt and bind it.
That will be my June goal for ALYoF's!
June will be a busy month for me but I'm sure I can get it finished!!

There are lots of June goals that have joined the linky party...
check them out here.
