I am participating in Sew, Mama, Sew's Giveaway Day!!!!
My giveaway is......
.......a set of 8 hand embroidered blocks from the Bird Brain Design's 'Snowmen & Reindeer Blue Work Quilt' pattern.
They are 9 1/2" square blocks. The 'Yellow Brick Road' pattern by Terry Atkinson is a favorite of mine. I used the lap size instructions and added one 9-1/2" embroidered block to each row of the lap size quilt. The lucky winner could make a quilt similar to this or could make them into something completely different.
Here are the individual blocks that will go to a lucky winner....
To enter to win the embroidered blocks simply tell me
'how long you have been quilting' and
'what part of quilting do you least like to do? Is it borders.... binding.... backing etc?
I've been quilting about 9 years. I started January 2002. My least favorite part of quilting is 'adding borders'.
You do not have to become a follower but I would love it if you did follow me.....
Make sure you supply me with an e-mail address so I can contact you......
I will do the random draw on December 17 at 9 p.m. Eastern time.........
This giveaway is open to international bloggers.......and the winner will be drawn after 9:00 pm eastern time, December 17 and will receive an email on Saturday December 18.
I LOVE READING YOUR COMMENTS....they put a smile on my face but during this giveaway I will not be able to reply to the comments unless I can find some extra hours in my day...I still have shopping, sewing, wrapping, baking, cleaning, packing.... you name it I still have to do it before Christmas........I know you will all understand. If anyone can give me a few days with 36 hours I could really use them!!

Happy Holidays, good health and happiness in 2011!!

Hi Pauline!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you in blogland again! This is a very generous give away. Yes, please, I would love to go into the draw. I love these snowman blocks. You have done beautiful work with the stitching.
I have been quilting for about 20 years and I still get frustrated with getting an exact quarter inch seam.
I have been quilting for about 5 years and my favorite part is either the choosing the fabric or the piecing. I can't do the binding but my BFF does a mean binding for me!! Great giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting less than 10 years. the part i hate is "squaring up" blocks. The snowmen are so cute. I am a follower already
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting for about 9 years 9 1/2 years. My least favorite part about the whole process is cutting out the fabric.
ReplyDeleteWonderful giveaway - thanks for the opportunity to enter!
I have been quilting since 1996, with a break from 97-2005, It's been the last four years that I have been really quilting.
ReplyDeletemy least favorite part is doing teh actual quilting, especially on a large quilt, but only because I am not great at it yet.
These are very cute. I don't quilt but my sil sews and i would love to win these for her.
ReplyDeleteVery nice giveaway. I too like to embrodery, currently working on the Raggedy and Freinds from Kaaren at Painted Quilts.
ReplyDeleteI have been sewing since I was old enough to use a sewing machine but got serious about quilts about 10 years ago. My least favorite part is the binding.
I've been machine quilting for 10 or 11 years. I once hand pieced and hand quilted a quilt that took me 14 years to make. But that was before machine piecing. The best part of quilting is choosing fabric and seeing how it all comes together. The part I least like about quilting is the backing. I always have to clear a space to have enough room to cut that backing to the correct size. Same goes for the batting. I'm already a follower of your blog thanks to Pam.
ReplyDeleteI started quilting in 1995 when a friend said, "you sew so why don't you make me a quilt for my birthday?" and I agreed never dreaming how long it would take or how much it would cost! My least favorite thing...definitely borders. I can never get them right the first time! blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot to tell you that I am a follower. Thanks for the chance to be a winner of your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThese blocks are beautiful. Sooo, cute.
ReplyDeleteHope you are staying warm today, with all the schools being closed. I am from the AA area ;-) So, I am happy to be able to blog hop today.
I have been making quilts for 4 years now. I don't like squaring up the quilt because then you can really tell how "off" the quilt is. Wonderful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have sooooo many quilt tops, so I think the least favorite is basting and quilting. lol! Although I do intend on doing them still! I love these blocks you are giving away!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway!
h_freund@hotmail.com
I started quilting when I retired. I always wanted to quilt and I made tied quilts for years but I never tried piece quilts. Now I love it and Yellow Brick Road is one of my favorite patterns. Picking out the material and color selection is my least favorite part. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMarge
I have been quilting for about 20 years and the part of quilting I don't enjoy is squaring up the blocks. I just want to keep sewing. But the quilts do turn out better with good measuring.
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks that you have done. Thanks for the chance to win.
What a clever idea for using embroidery. I love the Yellow Brick Road pattern. My least favorite part of quilting also is adding the borders. Depending on the size of the quilt, it just gets too hard to get it all to the machine in an orderly fashion.=)
ReplyDeleteI quilt for less than 1 year. Well, actually I am trying to quilt. next year I am going to take quiltlessons, so I can improve my skills.
ReplyDeleteWhat do I like the least? I don't know, so far nothing, but I am still busy with my first quilt, a hexagon tablecloth.
Fantastic giveaway! I hope I win! I've been quilting for 3 years. My least favorite part of quilting is borders and backings. A lot of my quilts get to those stages and begin to rot, lol! I'm a follower, and I enjoy reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteI think I started quilting about 5 years ago. I did sew before that too, but I didn't quilt it. Binding is what I like less. I came to your blog by the Holly Jolly Blog and came right into this
ReplyDeletewonderful give away and I want to enter if you accept international entries. Greetings from Norway.
I made my first quilt this year, and I love it! Although I liked every step of making my quilt, I think I like cutting the pieces the least. Great giveaway, and thanks for the chance to enter!
ReplyDeleteThe blocks are gorgeous! I would be so excited to win! I have only been quilting for about 6 months, and I really don't like binding.
ReplyDeleteCute blocks. I just tried my hand at this a few weeks ago. I've only been quilting since this past January and I hate basting my quilts! Ugh.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely. I've been quilting for about 25 years. I really hate the binding.
ReplyDeleteCome by and enter my giveaway
Beautiful Blocks!
ReplyDeleteI made my 2 quilts about 2 years ago, but I just started quilting again within the last 2 months. I think the first 2 quilts were just a little bit out of my ability level, but I feel more confident now!
I just really love seeing everything come together!
av_valley(at)yahoo(dot)com
Oops! I just realized I was supposed to comment on my least favorite part! So far the part that gives me the most difficulty is the quilting. Whether its tying the quilt, grid quilting or free motion, the quilting part always takes longer than I anticipate and always gives me trouble!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet giveaway you are having. Such cute blocks.
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting since 1999 and my favorite part is probably cutting the pieces and putting them on the design wall to see how the blocks will look.
But I really love hand applique.
I am visiting via In Stitches blog.
Love it! Would definitely like to make up a quilt like the one in the photo with these. I have been quilting in some form since I was 16.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kerry

Hi Pauline!
ReplyDeleteI found you strolling through the Blog Roll on Holly Jolly Bingo Blog. I am glad I did. :)
I have been quilting since I was a kid, with my Grama. Let's see, that would be over 50 years :) I STILL hate sandwiching the layers!! All the rest I love!
Your embroidered blocks are wonderful.
Have a great Monday!
grami
gramisews@gmail.com
I have been sewing for over 20 years. I have only been quilting for about 7 months. I love all of it. I think the part i like the least is pinning the quilt sandwich. I am not good at it yet and I always have puckers. I have started to try the spray. I think I like it better but I will need to so more. Thank you for the give away!
ReplyDeleteThese blocks are gorgeous! I just started quilting less than 1 year ago. So far, I hate adding borders - they never line up right! Thank you for hosting this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteblueberryblues5(at)gmail(dot)com
Gorgeous! I've actually never properly quilted. I once sewed a little baby quilt with a lot of supervision. I'm practicing sewing straight lines and curves now. Maybe one day. . . .
ReplyDeleteI made my first quilt just after I got my first sewing machine for Christmas 2008. It was for my daughter's first birthday in FEbuary '09.
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite part of quilting is the cutting.
erin m shipley at gmail dot com
Oh how fun!! I love snowmen!! :-) I've made my first quilt about 20 years ago, then dabbled in other things and came back to quilting again about 8 years ago... but I made baby quilts and small things in the interim. ;-) I don't have a least favorite part! I used to say hand stitching down the binding but as I've gotten older, I like that part as much as the rest. Thanks so much for this great giveaway!! I'm a very happy follower. :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting since 2000 so that's 10 years now :) I have to agree with that adding borders is not the most fun but for me, it is quilting. I have a long arm quilting machine hand-me-down and just haven't had a lot of experience so if I don't have a deadline, I simply ignore the flimsies piling up!
ReplyDeleteI totally adore those blocks. Been quilting for about a year and a half now and I am addicted. My least favorite part of the process is the basting. My favorite thing is when the quilt is so big that I don't feel guilty dropping it off for someone else to do the quilting! Fabulous giveaway - thanks for doing Giveaway Day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a swell give away - knowing how beautiful your work is, I'm not one to pass up a chance! I have been quilting for 40 years if you can imagine. I started by learning to hand stitch with my great Grandma Mac and she took all my blocks and made a quilt (one of her last before she passed)....current favorite part of quilting is all the fun stuff I can do with my Long Arm and all the cool stuff I will be able to show you soon too! Good luck with the "beast" ~ LTW
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting since 1980. My least favorite step is securing the 3 layers together...the basting part. I enjoy everything else. You are inspiring me to get the embroidery out.
ReplyDeleteWhat neat blocks! I started quilting three years ago when I made a quilt for my husband. My least favorite part is binding a quilt but I love putting the blocks together!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually not a quilter, but I do a lot of mixed media crafts and use many of the same supplies! These blocks would be so fun to work with!
ReplyDeletejinglesells at gmail dot com
What lovely blocks! I'm very new to quilting and just started this year. In fact, all I've managed to do so far is hot pads and pot holders. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm slowly working up my nerve to move onto a baby quilt next.
My least favorite part is the binding (at least at this stage in my learning).
Thanks so much for participating in the giveaway!
I am new to quilting. I started my first quilt in May of 2009. I pieced the top with a friend who is a veteran quilter, and then had the guests at my wedding sign the quilt top, instead of a traditional guest book. It is in the process of being hand quilted by my grandma-in law. My least favorite part is the binding, hands down. I have made 3 quilts of different sizes since the first and each time I am just ready to be done by the time the binding comes around.
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting since May of this year (made my first quilt 8 months pregnant and finished the quilting the night before I went into labor!) I hate making the backing. I never can decide how to do it and usually end up with just a big piece of fabric I usually wish I had done something more fun too.
ReplyDeleteWOW! I love "bluework"!! I've been quilting since 1999 and I love the hand stitching of the binding at the end. One because it means the project is almost done and two because I love hand work! Thanks for your giveaway!!!
ReplyDeleteI've only been quilting for a few years and binding is boring! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting for 3 years now, but that's only because it took me 3 years from start to finish for my first quilt. My least favorite part was binding - I really stink at it! Thanks for offering such a great giveaway, hand embroidered quilt blocks would be a beautiful base to my 2nd quilt. :)
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to win these blocks. How wonderful! Snowmen are my weakness! :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting about 4 years now and signed up to do my first big quilt all by myself next year. It's the Civil War Chronicles Block of the Month. Love it and am excited! My least favorite part of quilting would have to be binding I think. Sometimes cutting.
I've been quilting for about 9 years. My least favorite part is basting. I can never get it pucker free. Working on it though.
ReplyDeleteHolly jolly bingo permit me to find you, so I'm the principiant in the quilting, learning, looking, etc, but what I really know is sewing, crochet, cross stiching, etc, so I'm going in in this giveaway, become you follower, and here is my email adress:
ReplyDeleteloredana.petkovic@pu.htnet.hr
Have a nice time. Loredana.
oh, those are so adorable!
ReplyDeleteHow long I've been quilting is a bit of a story. I learned how to make trip around the world lap quilts in High school (11 years ago). I made several in college as wedding presents. But I really haven't done much since that, until this last year. I made two pieced twin sized quilts for my girls' room - and even did my first machine quilting. I love the end result.
My least favorite is cutting. I love the rest, but the endless cutting drives me batty!
yes.i.am.crazy.too At gmail Dot com
I've been quilting for about twenty years but since discovering blogs and starting my own have really been inspired. My favourite part - putting a newly finished quilt out on display and 'falling in love with it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for including me in your generous giveaway.
love to make quilt tops....hate to quilt them. Even borders and binding don't but me, but I would pay somebody to do the quilting if I could.
ReplyDeleteFabulous little squares!
I've been quilting...oh, who's counting? I'm not. Long enough to know I'm a very lazy quilter. If I can get around doing my least favorite parts, I will. Binding would have to be right at the top of my least favorite list.
ReplyDeleteI'm participating in the Sew, Mama, Sew Giveaway Day! I hope you have time to stop over and enter my giveaway at homemakerhoney.com
Merry Christmas!

What an adorable little quilt!!! I love snowmen and snow-women!
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting for many 15 years, I love to design and applique, I have a very hard time following a pattern. Probably my least favorite would be to quilt a king size quilt on a regular machine.
I also follow you via google reader!
I started quiilting about 8 or 9 years ago. I had putting the backing, batting, and top together.
ReplyDeleteAs a result, I have many tops finished and few quilts.
Billie
I have been around quilting all my life, as my grandma was a very gifted quilter. I have been quilting for about 2 years. The thing I dislike most about it is cutting all the peices!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! Robyn (dot) Geddes (at) gmail (dot) com
I've been quilting since 1999, so about 11 years. Learned the basics from my mother-in-law and have taken some classes. I think my least favorite part of quilting is binding, for some reason I let them sit forever before I put on the binding and finish them. thanks for the chance to win, the blocks are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYesterday I guessed half way right. The snowmen blocks are wonderful. I began quilting about 4 years ago though my mother tells me that I put some huge stitches in one of her quilts before I ever started school. My least favorite part of quilting is making and basting the quilt sandwich. Thanks for the giveaway. alt email mlwright29 (at) hotmail (dot) com
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute! I love the lap quilt! I am new to quilting, so I guess I'm not sure what I like the least. I have made a rag quilt out of fleece, and didn't care too much for the clipping :) I am currently working on an I-spy quilt, but am just about to start assembling. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletemegancparsons(at)gmail(dot)com
Quilting for over 20 years. But still an amateur quilter!
ReplyDeleteI am having a giveaway on my blog as well - a gift card sponsored by CSN Stores. Please do enter
Wow what a lovely give away!
ReplyDeleteI started quilting properly about 10 years ago. It took me almost that long to finish my first 2 quilts. I still have two to make, so all my girls have one.
I least like the border, but it's never as bad as I imagine it is going to be when I actually get down to doing it.
Thanks for the lovely give away.
Ally <'v'>
I'm just beginning! I'm making my first quilt and cutting the fabric was a pain but I'm enjoying the sewing part :)
ReplyDeleteThank for this wonderful giveaway!

Great giveaway post!
ReplyDeleteThose blocks are darling!
I have been quilting about 6 months less than you have - I started in June 2002. I'm not sure what my least favorite part of quilting is - it kind of depends on the day, but I love to do binding. Hand stitching is so relaxing. Thanks!
Thanks for such a great prize. I hope I win them! :) My least favorite part is cutting! I have been quilting since 98, and haven't learned to love the cutting yet.
ReplyDeleteI have never quilted, but my mom, and my Grandma do. When I turned 13 my Grandma gave me a quilt that her mom had made. I love snuggling up in them.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great quilt. I love the snowmen.
swim(dot)kayla(at)hotmail(dot)com
How sweet of you! I am not a quilter...yet but I am intimidated by all the cutting! I would rather do the sewing...especially hand work! Thanks! ♥
ReplyDeletei love these blocks. how generous you are. that's a lot of work. i have been quilting passionately the last 12 years but made my first quilt in 1978. i don't like putting on the binding or marking the quilt. i love to piece and make the top, then i'd love to have someone else finish it.
ReplyDeleteLove the blocks :0
ReplyDeleteI can't remember exactly how long I've been quilting, but believe it's a year or two more or less than 20!!! I love everything about quilting -- and have a bazillion projects that I still love but need to complete! So I guess I'd have to finishing a project is what I don't do well! Merry Christmas to you and yours - Laurie
I am a beginner quilter and so far the hardest pat has been backing it. I absolutely love your blocks!
ReplyDeleteWOW! These are adorable blocks!
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting for over 20 years, and my favorite part of quilting is the binding...it means it is finished and I can start another one!
I've been quilting over ten years, I haven't done much embroidery in the past few years, my sister does a great job. I think the backing is the least favorite part for me, though I have been trying to make them more interesting by piecing larger squares and rectangles of fabric for them. Especially any that is left over from piecing the front.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a gift.Pick me.
ReplyDeletejmclean at mts dot net
Love those blocks!
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting for about 10 years, give or take. I think my favourite part is piecing the tops. I'm not really confident with the actual quilting, although I refuse to send my tops to a long-arm quilter :)
I've just started quilting. I've still got a long way to go but so far the part I hate most is backing. I LOVE embroidering and creating my own patterns so far.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great giveaway! Happy holidays to you and yours! <3
krencamp(at)gmail(dot)com
Oh myyyyyyyyyyy I'm jumping all around, I'd really, R-E-A--L-L-Y would love to win. I'm a quilter since I was a child, well not exactly, I was used to see quilts, and my love for them started there. I was really scared to sewing machines and that's why I didn't start to make quilts by myself, then the fear went away and I started to use the machine, it happened about 5 years ago. The least thing I like to do is to quilt, because I don't use to send them to quilters and I make that by myself, it's a great effort, a great amount of time and work and I get really, really sleepy!!!, lol
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I think I will faint away if I win these beautiful embroidery blocks! I just adore embroidery work and I will treasure them always!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this generous giveway!
craftymama62[at]gmail[dot]com
super cute, I've been quilting for about 4 years. least fave part sashing. I go for simple designs, texhelena(at)aol(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting for about 7 years, I strongly dislike adding labels and only do it when the quilt is very special. I also dislike paper piecing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway - the blocks are beautiful.
I have been quilting for about 5 months, and I do NOT like binding. I still haven't had much luck with it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
kennedycraft (at) aol (dot) com
I started my first quilt like 10 years ago and finished it a few years later. So I would say it has been 7 years or so since I have been consistently completing quilts. I do not enjoy binding the quilt. Thanks for the chance to win. Happy Christmas. stephspitzer at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI have yet to make a quilt, I don't know why but I am scared to try one. My giveaway is right under yours on the sew mama sew list, so we are kind of neighbors. If I happen to be the lucky winner you can contact me through my blog, www.radseams.com/blog.
ReplyDeleteI've been qulting off and on for a few years. I really dislike anything after piecing and sewing the squares and before quilting...actually putting the quilt together is the tough and tedious part. But I do love your squares.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
embyrfire(at)hotmail(dot)com
I've been quilting for 5 or 6 years but just completed my first full size quilt this year. I've made many wall hangings, baby quilts, table runners etc. and have about 5 UFO large quilts at the moment. Thanks for a chance at your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to tell you what I like least - probably when a quilt has a lot of piecing and I get bogged down in it.
ReplyDeleteHi! I have been quilting since 2004 and my least favorite thing in the process is the layering of the sandwich, ugh.
ReplyDeleteHugs from Kirsten in Oslo
Great give-away Pauline! Your blocks are so gorgeous! I can't believe you've only been quilting 9 years....
ReplyDeleteI started in my early 20's, and it took me 20 years to finish my first quilt. I never thought I'd make another, but then I finished it, took it out of the dryer, slept under it and I was HOOKED. My least favorite part is cutting pieces...it seems to take the longest...and my favorite part is binding, because it means I'm almost done!
Gorgous. Been quilting for just over a year. Least favourite...cutting the fabric. Thanks for a chance to win :-)
ReplyDeletesince couple of years and backing am not a fan of
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting for about 5 years, and really enjoying it. It's wonderful to take bits and bobs that otherwise wouldn't be used, and make something pretty from them.
ReplyDeleteI love the actual hand quilting, and find it very peaceful. I hate, hate, hate piecing! I'm such a perfectionist that I can really stress out over it.
Ive been quilting for 20+ years. My favorite part is planning a new quilt, and my least favorite is adding borders, piecing the back and binding. By that time, I think, the fun creating stuff is over and it's just the boring finishing tasks.
ReplyDeleteHope I win the blocks! They're gorgeous.
ck_hitchcock@yahoo.com
I am a self taught sewer and have been sewing for about 2 years. I am working on my first quilt now so I haven't been quilting very long but I do love it. I haven't done a binding yet but I am scared to so I guess that is my least favorite part. lol
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays!
This is a fantastic giveaway. Thank you for the chance to win. I love the pairing of these blocks with the yellow brick road pattern.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I've been quilting about 4 years and my least favorite part of quilting is actually finding the perfect or even just right quilting motif for the finished top even though I usually like the finished product.
Oh wow! What lovely work. I've only been quilting for a few months, and I know already that binding is my least favorite part. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful grouping Pauline..I really like these...ok, most would not believe this, but I have only been quilting since June of this year...My very first quilt won me 2nd place in the Moda/Schnibbles contest. I have done 4 quilts to date since...all hand quilted...I love every stage, but I have to admit my most defining part of my success is my hand quilting... I go into another world when I am doing that...sew there you have it...
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting for about 10 years and my least favourite part is squaring up! My most favourite is the binding
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting since I was 10 years old, so 20 years! I don't always like cutting out the pieces, but I love putting them together again! Cute squares!
ReplyDeleteI've only been quilting for about 4 years! I hate, hate, hate doing the binding!! That is a chore for me!!
ReplyDeleteOooh I would love to have some pretty embroidery like this.
ReplyDeleteI haven't done any quilting yet :O
Just starting out and trying to find a pattern I like that I think I can do!
I have only started learning to quilt and so far do not know enough to dislike much. Thank you for your offer.
ReplyDeleteSomeones going to be a very happy winner of those blocks. I've been quilting over 20 years, oh my has it really been that long....
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting almost 10 years. My least favorite part if the "actual" quilting with the borders coming in 2nd. It has been a while since I have embroidered, but started when I was 8.
ReplyDeleteBetty
bgk44@msn.com
How beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting more than 30 years--off and on. Borders are my least favorite, too, but binding comes in a VERY close second!
Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!
dmonroe at astate dot edu
Aren't they gorgeous! I haven't quilted anything yet, but I'd love to and perhaps these blocks would be just the ticket to inspire me to have the quilt done by next winter (after doing a wee bit of practising on other fabrics first of course!)
ReplyDeleteThose are cute squares! My least favorite part of quilting is basting. Anyway you do it - needle in thread or pins, I'm not a fan. =)
ReplyDeleteHey, great giveaway! I have been quilting since 1992. I was a sewer and crafter before that but got adddicted and can't get enough still..I love it. My least favorite thing to do is put borders on. It used to be the cutting and it still runs a close second but borders are #1 right now. Thanks for the great giveaway! Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteOh those are so cute! I love what you have done done with yours!
ReplyDeleteLets see I have been quilting a little over a year now, and my least favorite is binding and pinning! YUCK YUCK! :D
I am having a giveaway too!! Come check it out if you like. http://hendrixville.blogspot.com/
Hello,
ReplyDeleteWhat a special and generous give a way!! Thank you for the opportunity to win. I have been quilting off and on for about 15 years, my least favorite is cutting the fabrics out.
Merry Christmas!!
I've been quilting since the 70's and I still hate binding!
ReplyDeleteI never quilted yet... And I'd love to ! Do I deserve to enter your giveaway ?
ReplyDeleteI saw those blocks on flickr and fell in love with the reindeer!
ReplyDeleteI am brand new to quilting. I have just started getting supplies (rotary cutter, etc). It is binding that intimidates me the most. Well, fancy piecing makes me nervous too, but I dont think I will be doing anything like that for a long time.
hugs & happy holidays from ON, Canada

heidig@gmail.com
umm - well, I've been sewing for about a month and have purchased great Moda quilting fabric...have made a pin cushion based on a log cabin block, but I haven't actually made a quilt yet (But I have a pattern!). Does this count?
ReplyDeleteI don't like seam ripping...seams (hahaha) like I get a lot of practice at that.
I just started quilting in September. My least favorite part is the actual quilting, but I think that's because I'm working on a machine that is older than I am and probably could use a tune up. :)
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting now for about 10 years. I love the piecing process, but loathe finishing! Hence, I have a good amount of quilt tops but only a few finished works. I love these embroidered blocks, that is something I just do not have the patience for! :o)
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is adorable! I love the way that you added the blocks to the yellow brick road!
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting for about a year, and I don't like the sandwiching process. I find it tedious!
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting on and off for 25 years. My least favorite thing to do is sewing on the binding :-( I love your embroidered blocks! Very cute! Thanks for entering me :-)
ReplyDeleteI made my first quilt a few months ago and thats about all my experience. My least favorite part was binding the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting for maybe 10 years - my least favorite thing is making the binding pieces match up at the end once they are sewed on.
ReplyDeletequilting for 7 years
ReplyDeleteHate squaring up
This is a fantastic give-away.
I've been quilting for about 3 years, and my least favorite part is matching up the sandwich!
ReplyDeletePretty new to quilting, only made a few baby quilts and I really hate binding.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway! Thank you for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting for about a year. After admiring - and being terrified - of quilting for years, I finally sucked it up and gave it a go...and promptly fell in love.
My least favorite part is probably binding. I always feel like I make it much harder than it needs to be, and I'm never quite happy with how my corners work out. (Though they are getting a LOT better. My last project they turned out really nicely. Still didn't like doing it.)
What a wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteNothing better than a handmade gift!
God bless you.
Kind regards from Germany.
Claudia
frauknopf@gmx.de
I'm quilting since 5 years now, which still isn't a big or well known thing here in Germany. Therefore I'm always looking for patterns, nice fabrics etc.
The thing I like most is the planning part, finding the perfect fabrics which match to the theme...I think thats real fun.
Quilting here for about 13 years, sheesh I sound old! I hate sewing down the binding, HATE it!! All I want for Christmas is the Neighbour's Cat
ReplyDeleteOh, these blocks are adorable!! Love them!! I have been quilting for about 6 years on and off, but started really becoming a quilter this last year when I got a machine that has free motion quilting capabilities :) My least favorite part is probably the binding. I attach them by machine now as I despise hand quilting :)
ReplyDeleteCute cute Cute!! mmm I haven't finished a quilt yet...but I've been sewing for 2 years :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an AMAZING and generous give-away!! Of course I'd love to win!!! I've been quilting for over 30 years - hard to believe since I'm only 39! Kidding...that ship has sailed! And my very favorite part is deciding WHAT to make...not a huge fan of piecing because I just want to get it done but I also like machine quilting...it's theraputic for me...but never enough to CURE what ails me! Thanks for this great opportunity! xo, Nan
ReplyDeleteI've only been quilting for about 4 months. I am terrible at math so boarders are a trial for me, but the worst thing is handsewing on all that binding!
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win those blocks and make a quilt with them!
I've been quilting for 9 months (hands on) but I started getting interested three years ago...
I like piecing and quilting, and I find binding very relaxing (by hand). What I don't enjoy too much is basting the layers, especially if it's a big quilt...
Thanks for the chance!
i started quilting about 12 years ago in college, then took a long break and have been back at it for about 3 years. cutting and basting are my least favorite parts!
ReplyDeletethanks for such a generous giveaway!
What beautiful blocks! I´d love to win. I´ve not quilted properly, but I made some very little wall hangings and I´m going to make a window quilt to hide the chaos in my sewing room. A snowmen quilt would be wonderful for that. Thanks for the chance to win it and for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI love your snowmen!!! What an adorable quilt they will make. Thank you for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteMy most frustrating quilting problem is 1/4" seams ...sometimes I'm consistant, other times I'm not.
i have yet to actually make a quilt, i am stocking up on charm packs for starters! but i have quilted 3 table runners this year! yes i'm new, but i love it!
ReplyDeleteWell, I grew up around quilting my whole life but my first real quilting project was about a year ago. I'm not a big fan of all the prep work - washing, cutting, ironing - I just want to get to the sewing! ;)
ReplyDeleteI am super new to quilting but I have been doing some paper piecing and am finding it really nice and relaxing!! Heaven help me when I have to put it all together though lol...
ReplyDeletexo Steph
I hate the cutting out part!
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting for 3 years and I hate paying for the quilting, that's why I want to learn to do it myself.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance.

I have been quilting for 2 years, and I least like sandwiching the quilt together!
ReplyDeleteI started my first quilt about 1 year ago and still haven't finished it - I am getting there slowly. I am finding the quilting bit the most tedious - course i had to start with a big quilt didn't I....
ReplyDeleteI started quilting about 15 years ago, and have done it off an on since then. My least favorite part in pinning the layers together. :)
ReplyDeletedvdenter (at) gci (dot) net
wow! these embroidered blocks are amazing! I love 'em!!
ReplyDeleteI have been seriously quilting for just over a year. the part I like least is hand binding. But I may have found a way around that....
I've been quilting for about 2 years, my least favorite part is the binding
ReplyDeleteI quilted when I was young and then took time away to raise my family, when my mother passed I inherited her machines and I again started to quilt in her honor, I now follow her lead and make charity quilts for a nursing home... I have 7 ready to go now...Please enter my name in your lovely drawing
ReplyDeletethank you

I've been quilting for about 10 years and I like borders the least and choosing the fabric the best.
ReplyDeleteThose squares are so sweet. I like that they are snow people, they get to stay out longer.
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting exactly one year. I one large and three small projects finished. I have another large one almost done and needs finished this week. It's getting quilted right now. I keep messing up, pretty sure it's my sewing machines fault. I have pulled a lot of stitches! That's my least favorite part. messing up and pulling stitches in the quilting phase.
Bmoore_mamabee(at)hotmail(dot)com
I actually plan to start quilting in the new year, having picked a pattern for my son and one for my daughter to make.
ReplyDeleteSo far my favourite part is the design and finding all the fabric!
shwebel (at) gmail (Dot) com
I have only been quilting seriously for about a year. My least favorite part of quilting is adding borders.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous giveaway!!! I love stitchery, but can't stay with it long enough to get better. I'd love these blocks to make a quilt. I've been quilting "obsessively" for 9 or 10 years. I have always been attracted to quilts, but didn't know anyone who quilted. I love spending time with other quilters. My least favorite part of quilting is measuring for borders. I have several projects stuck at that stage. Merry Christmas to you and your family! Thanks so much for sharing with us in blogville!
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting on and off for almost 22 years (wow!). My least favorite part (right now) is having more ideas and ambitions than time. I only get about 6 hours a week for crafting, so dream up new ideas way faster than I can make any of them...
ReplyDeleteGreat blocks! I am new to quilting--really only started this year. My least favorite part is trying to find time for it. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeletektyoung1(at)gmail(dot)com
I only started quilting last spring, and the part I like least is pinning it all together. And I agree with you and so many of the other commenters here on borders.
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute, it's not even funny!
ReplyDeleteI started quilting almost 12 years ago and I would say that my least favorite part it the binding. LOVE to piece, am starting to be better about quilting, HATE to bind.
Thanks for the great giveaway!
lynchmob4022@sbcglobal.net
I have been quilting for less than a year and I like picking out the colors the best. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting for 15 years. Making the binding is my least favorite thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI started quilting in 2003, sort of. I was on chemo for breast cancer. I collected fabric, magazines, books, fabric, etc. I made kits that I could do after chemo. I started doing those kits in the summer of 2004. I have been making mainly charity quilts since. I love snowmen and collect them. I would love to have these quilt blocks to make a quilt for my husband. He would bring fabric, mags, etc. home when he went out to the store. He wanted me to hang on tight to my dream of learning to quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love the entire process of making a quilt. To have a pile of fabric, threads, etc. in front of you and then through the process, you end up with something so beautiful and comforting. There is alot of love sewn into every quilt a quilter makes.
I just love those blocks. I've been quilting for about 5 years and got really productive when a bought a new machine early this year. least favorite is IRONING. I hate it.
ReplyDeletethanks for the giveaway and happy holidays.
Love those blocks! I am new to quilting. A friend recently made a quilt with panels like these, and it was so cute it inspired me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance!
i have been quilting on and off for more than 50 years and my least favorite part of quilting is machine quilting - especially the second half of the quilt. I would much rather hand quilt after machine piecing.
ReplyDeleteI am just getting into quilting and want to attempt my first quilt ever. Your blocks are so cute and I would love to use them. The only thing I have done is made a few rag quilts. I am not very good at making the fabrics exact and find that my projects have shown some unevenness. But my kids still love them and use them. Thanks. mknield@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting for about 20 years. I get stuck on borders. I get the middle done but it sits waiting for borders.
ReplyDeleteThe little blocks are adorable - I'd love to play with them! I've been quilting most of my life - I was fortunate to learn from my mom. And even though she is in her 90s now, she still looks after my least favourite part - binding.
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting for over 35 years, My least favourite part of quilting is the cutting out. I love the piecing, the machine quilting and the binding. Lovely blocks thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI started quilting about 12 years ago, but it became a constant fixture in my life only about 5 years ago. My least favourite part of quilting is the basting!
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting for 13 years. Like my predecessor, basting is my least favorite part of quilting ... maybe because there's absolutely nothing creative about it.
ReplyDeletePs Mama Spark sent me ;-)
Those are too adorabole.
ReplyDeleteI started quilting in 2002 when I retired and thought I needed a hobby. The part I least like is cutting the fabrics.
Thanks.
I've been quilting for 30 years! That just doesn't seem possible. My least favorite part of the entire process is binding.
ReplyDeleteI love the embroidered blocks. Thanks for the chance to win them.
Mama Spark sent me! The blocks are too wonderful! I've been quilting since 1976. Shhh! I don't want anyone guessing my age! My least favorite part of quilting is making the quilt sandwich. Boring! I have been using basting spray on my baby size, or smaller, quilts and it certainly saves time. There was a learning curve. Wonderful bloggers helped me through that curve! Thanks for the chance. Toni
ReplyDeleteI don't know how long I've been quilting. I started when I was 17 and I I'm almost 47 so I guess....that is 30 years. There were long breaks during those years too.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, the part I hate about quilting is choosing coordinating fabrics. I get so frustrated. I laugh when people say they hate doing the binding....I'd have a stack a mile high if I could do those for everyone else while they pick coordinating fabrics for me!
Smiles,
Kelly
I've only been quilting for 2 years. I don't really consider myself a "quilter." I've only made 2 quilts. I guess my least favorite part is cutting! It's SO time consuming! But I love quilts with lots of different pieces! Your embroidered blocks are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI have been doing some form of quilting since I was in my teens and now I am 60.In 1982, I started quilting more and then stopped until about 7 years ago. The part I hate the most is the actually quilting. I love to piece and love to put binding on. I usually quilt-as-you-go so that it fits my machine.
ReplyDeleteLovely! Love your blue quilt and the stitcheries! I started to quilt in 2001 and love it. At the moment my favourite part is doing stitcheries and putting together the top! Thanks so much for the give away!
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting for two years now. My favorite part is to choose fabrics and piece the top. he task I don't like so much is biding.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway.
Merry hristmas.
I've been quilting since 1983 but with a break from app. 85 to 1998 caused by too much work!
ReplyDeleteI love to piece the top - lately by mashine.
Thanks for a great giveaway! I hope the lovely stitcheries will go to Denmark :-)
Great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting for two years, I'm pretty new to it! The thing I like the least is the basting stage. I always end up with pulled muscles from stretching over the quilt!
What a great giveaway! Those blocks are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting off and on since 1996 (have rheumatoid arthritis and before the good medicine came out, there were days I struggled).
Least favorite thing to do is usually the binding because I want it done yesterday and I hand sew them down and I'm SLOW!
what cute blocks. I love blue work and red work. Plus collect snowmen.
ReplyDeleteI have been "quilting" for about 20 years but mostly collecting. I find that my hardest thing is to get started and my least favorite thing is actually cutting out all the fabrics. I just got a "go" cutter so hope that helps me get to working.
Merry Christmas! from cold, icy Virginia
hello! i've started sewing and quilting in the summer of 2009, around my birthday when i asked for a sewing machine. i have not stopped ever since. i love to create things, it's kind of therapeutical. i don't like the binding part that much, but i've come to terms with it. i stress a lot about cutting because i hve poor eyesight and always worry that my projects will get wonky because i cut it wrong to being with.
ReplyDeletei also knit and recntly i've been meaning to learn crochet and embroidery.
please take the time to head over to my blog to participate in my giveaway too. i didn't make it to the list in time and it's something small, but there's still plenty of time and there are so few participants that you might actually have a chance to win something :)
I have done some quilting for over 30 years but not as much as you! I got into crazy quilting and some other creative stitchery so I divide my time between all of the needlearts. I can see so much potential in these darling blocks that I would probably have to get right down to making them up in a quilt for my grandson who loves winter! Imagine that.....a baseball player who loves winter! LOL. My least favorite aspect of quilting is the lack of my own personal time to devote to getting one done, I need to find a way to manage my time better but I guess that isn't the fault of the quilt, huh? Thanks for this opportunity to possibly win.
ReplyDeleteI started quilting in the early 70s when there wasn't a lot of great fabric available for quilters. I have to agree with you that my least favorite is the bordering.
ReplyDeleteYour snowmen are just darling.
LOVE the snowmen!
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting for about 30 years...and have my first quilt to prove it!
I love the piecing part of quilting..putting all of the puzzle pieces together and make it into a big wonderful quilt!
Beautiful blocks!! I love Bird Brain Designs. I have been quilting for about 20 years now. I don't like the actual quilting. I am not very good at it. So I send my quilt tops to a friend to be quilted. I do the wall hanging and small items but not my bed size quilts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great giveaway!!
I have been quilting since September! I think that so far my least favorite part will be the actual quilting, but largely because I haven't really tried it yet & it seems so daunting!
ReplyDeleteWow! Neat prize! I've been sewing for about one year now and have made one quilt. I found the binding the hardest part. Thanks for the great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteFor a year or so I'm trying to start quilting, but it scares me, I'm afraid to mess it up.
ReplyDeleteI love your blocks! My fav giveaway in the SMS giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a newbie quilter, within the past year. With that said, I don't have a part that I dislike yet. The novelty hasn't worn off yet and am still trying new techniques with open mind, and pricked fingers :) I'm sure I'll be forming more opinions once I get more instruction under my belt.
Have a wonderful holiday!
Started quilting right after marriage 30 years ago, stopped for 28 years, and just managed to start again a couple of years ago. I love making things to give to my family. The latest is a quilt for my son. debgiro at wildblue dot net
ReplyDeleteI love your blue quilt. I'm still a newbie. I bought the yellow brick road pattern, and I've been looking at fabric. The actual quilting concerns me the most.
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting for over 25 years, love embroidery as well. I wanted to do those embroidery blocks but didn't have time, thanks for the chance to win some blocks
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite is bindings so i usually dont do them.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway!! I think my least favorite part of quilting is getting everything out and putting it up--and trying to do stuff with my little toddler running around. :-) Shelly sal4qt at gmail dot com
ReplyDeletei have been quilting since 2003. i love it. My least favorite part of quilting is the binding. it is so tedious!
ReplyDeleteI have never been brave enough to quilt, but have seen enough to be inspired.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway!
Thanks for the great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting for about 2 years. I hate the cutting!

Wow--1 in 193 chances to win! Is it worth the chance? I think so! I have been quilting for about 25 years and my least favorite part is squaring up. That was easy enough. I will wait for your response. ;0).
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting for about 25 years. My two least favorite part is spray basting the layers together for quilting. I do all my own machine quilting and I hate getting ready for it.
