Flowering trees and a good sewing weekend...

We had a cold night Sunday night but no frost.  

The trees still look great but

tonight the temperature is to go down to 24F

and they are calling it a killer freeze not a damaging frost.

I've covered my rhubarb plants...they have grown so much in the last week!
I planted 4 rhubarb plants 2 years ago, only 2 came back last year
and this year I still  have 2.....

I did manage to get some sewing done this weekend.  
I finished stitching the last block of Bird Brain Designs.

I finished hand stitching the last Dresden Plate to the background fabric.
Now I have to trim the blocks and start the sashing and corner stones.
I would really like to get the blocks put together this week....wish me luck..:o)
 
Sorry to say...I have not put the borders on my purple log cabin quilt ...yet!!
Still trying to decide on the borders.
I did manage to make the binding for 3 quilts
and stitch them to the quilt tops
and
2 of the quilts have the binding hand stitched down...yippee!!
1 to go and I'll have 3 quilts finished....
2 of them are UFO's..5 or 6 years old and
the 3rd one is a quilt I started in November.
I'll have pictures on my next post...


I think I had a very good sewing weekend.

Welcome spring...

I think we missed Spring and went right to Summer.
It is suppose to be in the 80's on Wednesday...this is crazy weather.

The tornadoes that went through SE Michigan on Thursday were a little to close for comfort...

...after seeing the devastation I am amazed there were no deaths or serious injuries.

no damage in Canton.....thank goodness...
...fabric, patterns, sewing machines are all OK....
my sewing room may look like a tornado went through...but none did.

My 2 Dsisters and my Dniece...

were visiting from Canada...
they arrived Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. and left Friday mid afternoon.

We did a lot of this...none of this is mine...

...too much eating.

My Dniece brought the most delicious peanut butter pie...

...it is sinfully delicious and so easy to make!!


Peanut Butter Pie
1 baked pie shell
1 cup peanut butter
2.5 cups icing sugar
Cooked Vanilla pie filling
Cool whip

Mix peanut butter and icing sugar together until you have little formed crumbs. 
You may have to add more icing sugar or peanut butter as I never measure and guessed on the amounts.
When you have the crumbs, put a layer on the bottom of a cooked pie shell.
 Add cooked vanilla pie filling and let cool. 
When cool add another layer of peanut butter crumbs,
 cool whip and then more peanut butter crumbs. 
This pie tastes best after it sits for a day :) 

and we managed to get in only a little sewing.

When Dniece was visiting last week she was disappointed in me...
yes she will tell it as it is.....

I had told her I was hoping to have my log cabin quilt top finished

 before she came for her sleepovers!!

It didn't happen...

I did pick my border fabrics, so that is a start....and I will be sewing on this...

...this week, for sure, the top will be finished!!!

LOVE, JOY, HAPPY...

...doing what you LOVE and what brings you JOY...
...yes my DgrandD1 loves to dance....dancing makes her HAPPY...
...her smile tells it all.
She competed in her first solo dance competition earlier this month.
She told me she had a fun weekend and that is so important.
 WORK HARD, DO YOUR BEST and HAVE FUN...
... she did all three.
She brought happy tears to my eyes and I only saw her in pictures.
I know I will have to take lots of tissue when I see her compete
in Michigan in May.....

my DgrandS plays volleyball, lacrosse and hockey

and DgrandD2 also takes dance lessons
and luvs to dance too.

Our Grands make us smile and our hearts sing....
...♥ THEM...


No quilting this week so far.....promise, that will change!!
